The qiraji erupted from Ahn'Qiraj and nearly took Kalimdor. It ended not in victory but in a wall.
What Happened
- The insectoid qiraji, servants of the Old God C'Thun, pour out of the buried city of Ahn'Qiraj into Silithus and beyond.
- The Night Elves under Fandral Staghelm fight them to a standstill at terrible cost. Staghelm's son Valstann is killed in front of him.
- The Bronze Dragonflight under Anachronos intervenes. Dragons die.
- Unable to destroy the enemy, the dragons and night elves raise the Scarab Wall and seal the gates of Ahn'Qiraj. Anachronos leaves the Scepter of the Shifting Sands as the only key — then shatters it.
Why It Still Matters
The war was never won. It was paused. At launch the wall still stands, the qiraji are still inside, and the Twilight's Hammer are excavating in Silithus trying to help them out. Fandral Staghelm's grief over Valstann is the crack in the Cenarion Circle's leadership.
