During The War of the Ancients, some Highborne swore themselves to the Burning Legion and were transformed into demonic satyrs. The first and greatest was Xavius, Azshara's counselor.
They have persisted for ten thousand years, and they are the Night Elves' most personal shame — because every satyr was once kin.

They practice fel magic, keep Furbolg and night elf captives, and are usually found working toward some larger demonic project — most notably at Jaedenar in Felwood, where they serve the Shadow Council.
