One of the three clans of the War of the Three Hammers. Defeated by the Bronzebeards, they settled at Aerie Peak in The Hinterlands and bonded with the gryphons of the highlands.
They fought in The Second War — Kurdran Wildhammer's gryphon riders were decisive — and Kurdran went through the Dark Portal with the Expedition and never came back.
Relations with Ironforge are cordial and cool. They are Alliance-sympathetic, not Alliance-subject, and they resent being treated as the latter.
At launch they are fighting the Vilebranch trolls at Jintha'Alor and the Witherbark to the south.
