The Horde pushed north into Lordaeron. Seven human kingdoms, the dwarves, the gnomes, and the high elves formed the Alliance of Lordaeron and stopped them.
What Happened
- Anduin Lothar unites the human kingdoms under King Terenas Menethil. Ironforge, Gnomeregan, and Quel'Thalas join.
- The Horde, now led by Orgrim Doomhammer, enslaves the Red Dragonflight using the Demon Soul — Alexstrasza is chained in Grim Batol.
- Lord Perenolde of Alterac betrays the Alliance, opening a pass to the Horde. Alterac is later dissolved in disgrace.
- Quel'Thalas is burned. The high elves never forgive the Alliance's slow response.
- Uther the Lightbringer founds the Order of the Silver Hand — the first paladins.
- Lothar dies at Blackrock Spire. Turalyon takes command and breaks the Horde.
- Khadgar destroys the Dark Portal.
Why It Still Matters
Alterac's treason creates the Syndicate. The enslaved dragons create the Dragonmaw and the mystery of Grim Batol. The high elves' bitterness leads most of them to leave the Alliance. And the surviving orcs are put in internment camps — where Thrall is born.
