What It Actually Is
Not a government. A treaty organization between:
| Member | Represented By | Commitment |
|---|---|---|
| Kingdom of Stormwind | Bolvar Fordragon, regent for King Anduin Wrynn | Total — it's their war |
| Ironforge | King Magni Bronzebeard | Total, and the most reliable partner |
| Gnomeregan Exiles | High Tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque | Total. They have nothing else. |
| Darnassus | High Priestess Tyrande Whisperwind | Four years old and untested |
| Theramore | Lady Jaina Proudmoore | Independent, aligned, distrusted by hardliners |
| Wildhammer Clan | Falstad Wildhammer | Sympathetic, not subject |
Who You Can Play
Four peoples make up the Alliance, and every one of them has a full page — history, leadership, current conflicts, and how they talk.
| Species | Status | Where You're From |
|---|---|---|
| Humans | Core | Elwynn Forest, or a refugee from anywhere that fell |
| Dwarves | Core | Dun Morogh — Bronzebeard, or Wildhammer out of Aerie Peak |
| Night Elves | Core | Teldrassil, and four years into an alliance you are unsure about |
| Gnomes | Core | Nowhere. Tinker Town in Ironforge, and you want Gnomeregan back. |
The Narrow Exception
| Species | Status | The Story |
|---|---|---|
| High Elves | Allowed, by conversation | A few hundred stayed Alliance-loyal after the Second War — Dalaran survivors, the Silvermoon delegation in Stormwind City, the rangers at Allerian Stronghold. You are one of the ones who did not leave. |
High elves are not a 2004 playable option in the game, but they are visibly present in the world, which makes them the most defensible import on the list. This one does not count against the rare-species budget below.
Rare, By Arrangement Only
| Species | Status | The Story |
|---|---|---|
| Mechagnome | Reskin required | A Gnomeregan survivor rebuilt in mechanical parts — by choice, by necessity, or by someone else's decision. Nothing to do with Mechagon, which does not exist here. |
| Draenei | Heavy retcon | One castaway who came through the Dark Portal with the orcish invasion and has spent fifteen years hiding in the Blasted Lands. No Exodar, no prophet, no others. |
| Earthen | Ask me | Canon-legal and mechanically fine, but it costs the campaign something I would rather keep. I will probably say no. |
Travelling With You, But Not Of You
Two peoples belong to neither side and can end up with an Alliance party:
- Worgen — already loose in Silverpine Forest and Duskwood thanks to Archmage Arugal. Play a victim, not a Gilnean: someone bitten who kept their mind. The best rare pick in the campaign.
- Pandaren — one traveller from a land nobody can find on a map. Neutral, and a natural bridge in a party that leans one way.

What It Isn't
Gilneas walled itself off. Kul Tiras has withdrawn in fury since Daelin Proudmoore's death. Stromgarde is a ruin. Alterac was dissolved for treason. The High Elves left after the Second War and have never come back.
The Alliance of Lordaeron was seven kingdoms. This is four and a half.
Ideology
"The Light, the crown, and the common defense." In practice: humans provide legitimacy, dwarves provide industry, gnomes provide engineering, and night elves provide the thing nobody says out loud — they lost their immortality saving a world that mostly didn't notice, and they are owed.
