The Amani troll empire moved to exterminate the high elves of Quel'Thalas. The elves, badly outnumbered, went to the humans of Arathor for help.
What Happened
- The exiled Highborne — now High Elves — had founded Quel'Thalas atop a troll holy site. The Amani took offense, correctly.
- Arathor sends its armies. In exchange, the elves teach one hundred humans the arcane arts.
- Combined human steel and elven magic breaks the Amani at the gates of Quel'Thalas.
Why It Still Matters
This is the founding alliance of human and elf, and the origin of human magic — which leads directly to Dalaran, the Kirin Tor, the Guardians of Tirisfal, and Medivh opening the Dark Portal. It also leaves the Amani with a grudge that is still burning at launch in the Hinterlands and Eastern Plaguelands.
